Defects and DNA Replication

Bechhoefer Research Group

In higher organisms, DNA replication occurs at many places simultaneously. Recently, experiments have allowed one to observe individual replicated and non-replicated domains at various times during the replication process. John Bechhoefer and members of his research team have developed an analytical model to describe the DNA replication process and predict behaviour.  Most recently, they have extended this model to study how defects in the process affect replication.  This work was published in Physical Review Letters.  A synopsis about this article was published in the journal Physics.  You can find the synopsis here.
