Faculty Position in Theoretical Soft Matter and/or Biological Physics

Simon Fraser University

The Physics Department at Simon Fraser University invites applications for a tenure track position in theoretical physics. We are searching for an individual of outstanding promise who will develop a high-profile externally funded research program in an area of soft matter physics and/or biological physics and who will participate in the undergraduate and graduate teaching program of the Department. She or he will join and further strengthen an already very strong experimental and theoretical research group working in these areas and, more generally, one of the strongest condensed matter physics groups in Canada. The projected start date is September 1, 2014, subject to final budgetary approval. The position is targeted at applicants at the rank of Assistant Professor; exceptional candidates may be considered for nomination under the Canada Research Chairs program* at the Tier 2 level.

All qualified candidates are encouraged to apply; however, Canadians and Permanent Residents of Canada will be given priority. Simon Fraser University is committed to an equity employment program that includes special measures to achieve diversity among its faculty and staff. We therefore particularly encourage applications from qualified women, aboriginal Canadians, persons with disabilities and members of visible minorities.

Applicants should submit a curriculum vitae as well as a concise research proposal and statement of teaching philosophy, and arrange for three letters of recommendation to be sent to:

                                                Dr. Simon Watkins, Chair

                                                Department of Physics

                                                8888 University Drive
